Azodyestuffs (azodyes, a kind of organic compounds with azo groups connected at both ends) are the most widely used synthetic dyestuffs in textile and garment dyeing process. They are used in the dyeing and printing of various natural and synthetic fibers, as well as the coloring of paints, plastics, rubber, etc. Under special conditions, it can decompose and produce more than 20 kinds of carcinogenic aromatic amines. Through activation, it can change the DNA structure of human body to cause pathological changes and induce cancer. Azo dye is the most widely used dye. In the process of production and application, about 10% - 15% of dyes are discharged into the environment without treatment and may seriously affect the health of the contacts. Therefore, azo wastewater must be treated innocuously before discharge. At present, there are many methods to treat azo wastewater, among which microbial decolorization is considered to be the most effective and environmentally friendly method.
